CURRENT AIRPORT PROJECT

New Construction

O'Hare Airport Project

O'HARE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

TERMINAL 5 CONCOURSE M EXTENSION,

CORE EXPANSION & REPURPOSING

CHICAGO, IL

Christopher Glass & Aluminum, Inc. is proud to partner with Innovation Glass LLC using their revolutionary VS1 highly adaptable glass wall system on the O'Hare Terminal 5 Expansion project.

VS1 will be utilized for roughly 40,000 square feet of façade on the terminal's new head house along the east concourse. Approximately 50% of the façade will include electrochromic (smart glass) technology.

The VS1 system is well suited to provide complete access to the electrical wiring at the smart glass edges, which greatly improves ease of installation and post-construction wire maintenance.

The 350,000 sq. ft. expansion is designed by a team led by Muller & Muller and HOK, with whom we look forward to continuing the collaboration in pursuit of excellent architecture.

This project is part of the larger "O'Hare 21" modernization effort, which began in 2017 with significant renovations to Terminal 3. This phase will add 10 gates to the terminal.

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWERS

New Construction and Replacement Glass

Air Traffic Control Tower

The importance of glass in Air Traffic Control Towers

is undeniably clear.

Properly installed and maintained glass is the hallmark of every Air Traffic Control Tower across the world. These slanted panels, sometimes weighing as much as 4,000 pounds, require quick replacement when needed.

We specialize in the installation of new and replacement glass for

Air Traffic Control Towers.

Unobstructed views of the air above and land below is paramount to controlling the immediate airport environment by the skilled Air Traffic Controllers. Optical and visual parameters of Glass Transmission, Reflection, Haze, Multiple Imaging, Scratches, Optical Defects, and Polarization must be considered when installing new or replacement glass.
